Kiyoharu's musical career began in the late 1980s. His roots lie in bands like SUS-4 and Garnet. The disbanding of Garnet led the vocalist to form Kuroyume (黒夢) with bassist, Hitoki in 1991. Kuroyume is one of the founding bands in visual-kei. The influence of Kuroyume can be felt in the music of bands such as Dir en grey and Merry. After their indefinite hiatus in 1999, Kiyoharu formed SADS. This band proved nearly as influential as his previous effort. SADS was active until 2003 when they also went on indefinite hiatus.

 

2003 would see the beginning of Kiyoharu's solo career with his debut single, Emily. His solo career showcases his talent as a guitarist as well as his vibrant vocals. Each release has varied in overall music style, ranging from soft and soulful to the heavier rock. April 2004 brought the release of his first full length album, poetry. The following year was filled with activity, resulting in five singles and two albums. 2005 was marked with a coupling tour with Kirito (ex Pierrot, Angelo). 

 

Numerous singles were released along with four albums between 2006 and 2012. The revivals of Kuroyume and SADS had some fans wondering whether his solo career would cease. Instead, the vocalist assured that he would do all three projects at his own pace. In what spare time he does have, Kiyoharu designs jewelry and clothing. 2014 looks to be a year filled with potential for the stylish artiste.
