Dream began in 1999 when three young women, Matsumuro Mai, Tachibana Kana and Hasebe Yu, were selected during an avex trax talent contest (avex dream 2000). Through the years, ladies have come and gone with the group's name transitioning from dream to DRM to Dream. Their music has also changed maturing from basic pop to a more mature upbeat sound with influences from other genres. The current lineup has been in place since March 31st, 2012 when Yamamoto Sayaka graduated. This left Abe Erie, Takamoto Aya, Nakashima Ami and Nishida Shizuka to carry Dream forward. The ladies took a brief break from releasing as Dream to focus on another project. They've recently had their comeback with a single, Only You, in May 2013.

I'm usually not the type who likes pop music. My tastes generally run in the rock and metal genres. There are very few exceptions to that rule though. Dream ended up being one of those exceptions right away. One of the instant deciding factors was their catchy songs with strong vocals that weren't nasally. There's a wholesome cuteness to Dream while they are still capable of being sensual. It's a nice break from a pop world that's dominated by the Ayumi and Koda types.
