BORN - Satisfaction?
The title track grows on you after a few instances. It seems like it would be the type of song that fans would enjoy singing and chanting along with. Femdom felt a little disproportionate to me. The vocals seemed slightly off from the backing track. Suicide picks back up where the title track left off. It’s a growly, screaming song a little reminiscent of Dir en grey in some parts.

Acid Black Cherry - Kuroneko ~Adult Black Cat~
The title track is a return to what I enjoyed about Acid Black Cherry. It’s brings back that jazzy, big band feel that I was hooked on with singles like Black Cherry. The song grows on me the more that I listen to it. As usual, the recreation track doesn’t disappoint. It’s a soft piano, pop ballad. Yasu’s vocals are well suited for both the jazzy feel and these recreation ballads. Overall, this is likely one of my favorite singles from Acid Black Cherry.

D - Dark Wings
The title track is well suited to D’s style of visual kei. The music accents Asagi’s vocals while being melodic and dark. It’s quite the improvement for me since Rosenstrauss. The trouble with D is that it’s easy for them to fall into a pattern of doing the same thing over and over again. Upholding their signature sound while experimenting with something new can often go very wrong. Asagi’s vocal style doesn’t lend itself well to other styles of music. This single is a step in the right direction for them. Dragon Princess has a mixture of Asagi’s usual vocals with a growly more aggressive style. While it’s not my favorite, the track does blend well with the overall feel of the single. Cold Sleep is more of what I expect to hear from D. It’s a sweeping guitar ballad with chanting backing vocals. Asagi’s vocals really have a chance to shine in songs like this one. Sajou no Paladin holds a better balance of the heavier feel with allowing Asagi’s vocals to be showcased. If their next release continues in the vein of this one, my faith in D may just be restored.
